Update from Mike Brosseau

Hello once again Red Fox Nation! I report back to you with even MORE exciting things to share. I don’t know what you’ve been up to lately, but I have been rather busy with everything going on around campus! Where should I begin…

I will start by telling you about my upcoming trip to New York City! I have NEVER been to NYC and am rather excited for my chance to see the Big Apple. I am going with other Marist students to see the American Idiot musical on Broadway! I have heard RAVE reviews about the musical, so I am almost 100% positive that Sunday is going to be one of the highlights of my freshman year. As a native of Massachusetts, I have never really thought of going to NYC. Whenever my friends and I want to go into the city, we would take the train into Boston. I love Boston, and I hope to live there one day because I really believe it is one of the best cities to live in; however, I also hear NYC is pretty amazing. I am looking forward to seeing how the cities compare!

My next thing to share with you is something I take great pride in. I am officially a part of the Marist Ambassadors Program! The Ambassador program here at Marist allows current students [like myself] to be representatives of our school and promote Marist in a multitude of ways. As an ambassador I help prospective students make their college choice and help them figure out what they want in a college or university, which is not just limited to Marist. I do this by visiting high schools in the my local area (which is Massachusetts) to present, show and talk to them about what Marist is really like. Prosepective students can also shadow me and come to Marist for a day to experience what an average day for myself as a college student is like. It is extremely rewarding to me to help students make their college choice because it is one of the first steps towards helping them figure out what they want to do with their lives. I look forward to meeting future Red Foxes!

Last, but not least, is the experience I am gaining by working on Red Fox Rumble, which is the Marist affiliated television show on campus that recaps everything going on with college and professional sports, especially Marist athletics on campus. We’ve shot two episodes so far, and I have gained experience working the teleprompter as well as actually using the camera. One of the things that impressed me about Marist is that I have only been here for one month of my freshman year of college and I am already involved in all of these spectacular opportunities and activities to stay involved within the Marist community. These types of experiences are all reasons why I believe I made the right choice in attending Marist. Coming into my freshman year, I knew that I would have several chances to quickly get involved and gain experience in different aspects of Communications, which can help figure out exactly what I hope to do with a degree in Sports Communications.

I look forward to writing to you soon with updates on my visit to NYC as well as the beginning of my ambassador training!

Go Red Foxes!
