Winter break could not have come soon enough for me! I was satisfied with my classes and how I’d done on my finals, so it was time to go home to my family and see old friends. On my way home, I stopped at my cousin’s house in Connecticut for some pizza and to watch a movie. I could not believe how tired I was from finals week, so I went home a little earlier than planned to see my parents and younger brother. Luckily, my father had the first two weeks of my break off from work, so we got to spend a lot of time together. We went ice skating a few times and out to lunch. Two of the times we went skating, the kids I babysit came along and my father and I taught them how to skate! It was extremely rewarding to see their progress and watch them learn how to ice skate, which is something I love and have been doing since I was two years old. While at the rink, we stayed to watch my high school’s hockey team play a game. I truly enjoyed seeing my old coaches and former teammates. I felt like a super star! So many people at the rink wanted to talk to me and see how Marist is going. I had something different to tell everyone about my college experiences. I enjoy talking about Marist not only because I love my school and everything I am doing there, but also because it’s fun to hear other people’s college stories. You never know what you can learn from them!
Christmas was just as exciting as ever because my uncle came to visit from Florida. Nana’s cooking couldn’t have been any better! My mother made a FANTASTIC Italian Christmas dinner and we played a LOT of Pictionary! For Christmas, I got a new digital camera!!! I’ve been taking tons of pictures and am very excited to get back to Marist to take pictures all around campus! One of the funniest parts of Christmas was when we were in midnight mass and a bat flew into our church and was flying around the ceiling!!! It was WICKED COOL, but very distracting!
While I have been home, there have been two snow storms! Thank goodness for whoever invented the snow blower! It is so helpful to have when there is two feet of snow on the ground! I forgot how fun it is to jump into snow and go sledding. My brother, neighbors and I all had a lot of fun!
I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing my family during this winter break and I can’t believe it’s time to go back to Marist! I’m looking forward to my classes this semester, but I will certainly miss seeing my family everyday. Luckily, I am well rested and ready to begin a wonderful semester! I am starting out going back to school a little early for Winter Session for Student Government. I am looking forward to our tour of the Hancock Center! I am also excited for the Broadway trips that SPC and College Activities has planned for this semester! I am hoping to make it to all of them!
