This summer I worked with Gabe Pressman, senior correspondent for NBC news in New York City. I worked in Rockefeller Plaza, which was fun to see every day because it is such a tourist destination. If I got into work early, I would walk by the filming of the TODAY show. My daily tasks included research for Gabe’s daily blog post for www.nbcny.com, contact finding, and managing his e-mail, and social media accounts. I would also enter expenses, and was basically his assistant. I had the opportunity to complete a video project that is a profile on a neighborhood in New York. For my neighborhood profile I chose to do the Garment District. I had to incorporate fashion into my internship somehow! For this project, I had to do all of the background research, contact finding, set up the film schedule, and got to assist in editing the piece together once it was filmed. I was the Assistant producer for this piece on the Garment District that aired on NBC NY Non-Stop as well as NBC NY news at 5 in September 2011. The video is also online here at http://www.nbcnewyork.com/on-air/as-seen-on/Gabe_Pressman_s_Profile_of_the_Garment_District_New_York-128851248.html

Gabe and Me
I had an amazing experience working in NYC and with a mentor like Gabe. Gabe taught me
theimportance of relationships, and about being passionate for what you do. I learned a lot about myself, became a more confident woman, and realized that I can make things happen for myself by completing such an important project for NBC. I was happy I was able to represent Marist College well and continue our fabulous reputation in the communications world!
As a side note, I used my connections at NBC and got VIP fan passes for the TODAY show Concert with Maroon 5 and was right up front – I even made it on TV! And, I met Snooki from Jersey Shore in the newsroom. I also met Ann Curry from the TODAY show in the elevator one morning.
