Calling all Hip-Hoppers, Irish Steppers, and Ballet…ers?

Have you ever found yourself doing tendus in line in the cafeteria? Watching Dance Moms religiously? Maybe daydreaming about jumps and leaps or tapping your toes while waiting for class to start? No? Maybe that’s just me. But if you love to dance and are looking for other Red Foxes who feel the same way, join the Marist College Dance Ensemble!

One of Marist’s largest clubs on campus, the Dance Ensemble is completely student-run, and presents a showcase at the end of every semester. Each showcase is made up of 30 unique dances choreographed and performed by students. Dances include every style from Kickline to Hip Hop.

The Dance Ensemble also takes part in many of the community service and social events around campus. A few dances are performed at Family Weekend every year, and this year the club will hold it’s third annual Dance-A-Thon, cosponsored by Purple Thread. All proceeds go to the Grace Smith House, a non-profit organization that works to provide support for victims of domestic violence.

On top of the biannual showcase and the myriad of community service events, the club also runs a Broadway Dance Workshop in the spring. Instructors from the Broadway Dance Center in New York City come to Marist to run dance workshops in a variety of styles.

Between free dance classes, participation in a huge performance (which is ALWAYS sold out every semester), and taking part in community and social events, you can’t go wrong when you join the Dance Ensemble.
