March 17, 2017 is the 10-year anniversary of the Marist women’s basketball team’s first NCAA tournament victory in program history.

The Red Foxes’ leading scorer in that game was Julianne Viani with 24 points. Viani graduated from Marist in 2009 after a standout career which saw her become the first female student-athlete in school history to appear in four NCAA tournaments. She scored 1,447 points in her career, was named MAAC Tournament Most Valuable Player as a senior.

After playing professionally in Armenia, Viani returned to the United States and began a career as color analyst – first for the Red Fox Network, and later on television. Her broadcasting experience includes ESPN, CBS Sports, and the Pac-12 Network.

The Red Fox Network caught up with Viani when she returned to Marist to broadcast a recent game.
