From March 1st through March 9th, the Marist chapter of the business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma, held a business suit drive to benefit Dress For Success Dutchess County. This local non-profit organization provides local underprivileged women with the tools necessary to empower themselves to achieve economic independence.
Beta Gamma Sigma was able to collect over 279 items for the drive. This included women’s suits, blouses, accessories, shoes, and pants that would be appropriate for a job interview. The honor society could not believe the overwhelming support from the Marist faculty and how willing people were to donate to this great cause. Vice Presidents Samantha Leena and Jack Barry were able to visit the Dress for Success Boutique. It was organized as a shop for clients to shop around for outfits for a new job or interview. The emphasis was to make clients feel empowered in the workforce. This is definitely an important factor in order to feel comfortable and confident in any job someone wants to pursue. Not only does this organization offer new clothes, but also interview practice classes for the clients.
The Beta Gamma Sigma honor society is especially grateful for everyone who came out to support this inspiring cause.
