As Halloween approaches quickly, I’m sure I’m not the only college student who has no idea what to be. It happens to the best of us, time just slips by and suddenly it’s the day before. I’m here to tell you that you’re in luck! I’m going to share some fun and simple last minute DIY costume ideas with you guys. The days of resorting to an all black outfit and painting whiskers on your face are over.
- Rosie the Riveter
Show some girl power and dress up as Rosie the Riveter. It’s so simple. All you need is a denim shirt and red bandanna. Braid your hair back, put on the bandanna, and you’re ready to go.
First you’ll need a robe (like one a boxer would wear prior to a match). Next you’ll need a strip of black cloth to wrap your hands in. When getting dressed put on athletic wear of your choice and throw the robe over. Next wrap your hands or if you’d prefer gloves, that’s cool too. Lastly put on some tube socks and sneakers. You should be good to go. If you wanna spice it up try putting some makeup around your eye to look like you have a bruise.
3. Wednesday Addams
This one is for my people who want something easy, but good enough to look like they put effort into their costume. All you’ll need is a simple black tee shirt dress, a white button down, and black boots. First, put on the white button down. Next you’re going to layer the black dress over top of the shirt. Once the dress is on, make sure to turn down the collar and turn up the cuffs at the end of the long sleeves of the dress. Match this outfit with black socks and boots. Lastly, do your hair in two pigtail braids at either side of your head. If you wanna add something extra try a black wig!
This costume is probably the easiest one yet. In order to achieve this look you’ll need a baggy white shirt, red bandanna, blue jeans, and a cheap eye patch. Once dressed in the shirt and pants, curl your hair into tight curls. A nice touch would be to add sea salt spray to mimic the salt from the ocean and give your hair that “beachy” texture. Next, put the bandanna on your head as you’d imagine a pirate would. Once you put on your eye patch you’re ready to find some treasure.
For this costume you’ll need a blue or black pant, a blue or black and white striped long sleeve, a beret, a red bandanna, and a paintbrush. Once you’ve put on the pants and shirt of your choice, tie the bandanna around your neck to mimic a French necktie. Lastly, put on the beret and work with it until it’s to your liking. The paint brush is solely an accessory to your look. If you’d like to add an extra touch, carry around a pallet too!
6. Smart Cookie
For the last costume idea, I wanted to give you guys something that takes a bit more effort just in case that’s what you’re looking for. For this costume you’re going to need a graduation cap and gown, a bunch of pictures of chocolate chip cookies, and safety pins. First, cut the chocolate chip cookies out so that you have a bunch of circles. Next take a safety pin and pin the top and bottom of the cookie to the gown. Make sure not to poke yourself and to only pin the picture to the front of the gown. Once you’ve pinned as many cookies to you’re gown as you’d like, get dressed. Make sure the tassel is to the left to show you’ve graduated!
Have a happy Halloween Red Foxes!
