Your Finals Library Survival Kit

It is officially the end of the year stretch for Marist students!  With that being said, stress is high and energy is low.  This week is full of students setting up camp in the library, and not leaving until the next day.  If you’re going to be moving into the library this week, here’s a Library Survival Kit to help you get through finals week!

  • Your Laptop
    • Your laptop is your best friend.  It has all of your documents and tools to help you succeed.  It is your main asset, and therefore the most important thing on the survival kit!
  • Headphones
    • If your anything like me, I need some sort of background noise to focus and get my work done.  Headphones are a great way to either cancel out the noise around you or really get focused in your own world.  They also could be a tool for studying… and then slowly falling down a Youtube hole when you need a break.sweet-iced-t-taylorgrew-when-you-go-to-the-library-36651473
  • Chargers
    • Imagine your grinding out work, really focused and getting so much done…. and then you get a “low battery” notification. You look around, and your chargers AT HOME. This is a perfect reason to include this in the Survival Kit!! The irony is that you actually need chargers to survive in the library for long periods of time.
  • Coffee
    • if your anything like me, you have a slight addiction to coffee. Some people (myself) need it as a tool to make studying and work more bearable.  It also can be a motivation tool with all of the caffeine and sugar that is coming into your body.  You can either bring this from home or get it in one of our two on-campus Starbucks! (One of which is conveniently located in our library!)

  • Water (or anything else)
    • Now, if you’re not a coffee drinker, you’re still going to need a drink to keep you going.  Whether you choose water, tea, soda, or an energy drink, you need some sort of liquid with you in your survival kit.
  • Snacks
    • Everyone needs a little pick me up when they start to lose steam while studying. A snack is one of the key things to bring to the library while studying. It will pick you up, give you more energy, and give you more motivation to keep going!  Just make sure your snack isn’t too loud, you’re still in a library after all.tumblr_ms50ga2EwZ1qiagllo5_250.gif

  • Comfy Clothes
    • I am the #1 supporter of living my life in “athleisure” (athletic leisure wear).  What’s the point of trying to live life in uncomfortable clothes? When it comes to studying, I need to be comfortable. When you’re in the library, studying for hours, the last thing you want to be is uncomfortable.  So dress comfy, whatever comfy is for you – even go in PJs if you want!!  That’s why this survival kit includes a comfy sweatshirt, and if you really want to commit, bring a blanket to the library.  Because what is more comfortable than your favorite blanket?

This is a cohesive list of everything you are going to need in the library to survive finals week!!  Good luck with finals Red Foxes, we’re all in this together!! See you in the library!
