The Fashion Show Production Class is counting down the days until the 33rd Annual Silver Needle Runway. With the show next week, students are putting together the final touches in preparation for the big day. This past Tuesday, students from the class went into Manhattan to cast professional models for the show.
The students left Steel Plant Studios at 7am to go to a Manhattan penthouse that was donated to the department by Li & Fung. The open casting was from 10am-3pm where models from agencies such as Elite, Ubrooke, Silent, Wilhelmina, Slay and Red attended in hopes of walking in Silver Needle Runway. When models arrived they went through a series of stations. First, they checked in and got their measurements taken by students. After, they got their photos and head shots taken. Following this, they did a sample walk for all the directors to a chosen song that will be in the show. If asked, they then try on a designers’ garment and do another sample walk. After all the models had walked, the directors did a deliberation in which they laid out all the models cards on the table and decided who they believe to be the best fit for the upcoming show. The casting attracted 100 male and female models in which 30 were chosen for the show.
If you want to see which models were chosen, join the Fashion Show Production class on May 10th at Silver Needle Runway. Tickets are available on ticketmaster.com.
